How to Differentiate this Activity

Differentiating this activity can accommodate your class’s various learning styles, abilities, and interests. Here are some suggestions for differentiating this persuasive writing activity.

  • You may like to use paper-based planning with some students. We have a range of persuasive writing templates that may work.
  • Vocabulary support: list relevant vocabulary words and phrases related to pizza, persuasive writing, and pizza topping descriptions. This can help struggling writers with a base.
  • Allow kids to work in pairs or small groups to brainstorm and plan their persuasive text.
  • Provide an alternative topic for those who may not like pizza.
  • Offer optional extension activities for advanced students who finish early, such as comparing and contrasting different types of pizza or coming up with an ad campaign for the pizza they created.
