Spelling Words With -dge, -ge, j, and g Phonemes is Tough!

In first grade, the primary focus of literacy instruction is on the ability to read words. In second grade, it begins to shift toward the ability to read and spell words using a variety of phonemes and letter combinations, some of which are quite difficult to master. One of the most challenging spelling/phonics rules for students is when to use j, g, ge, or dge to spell words containing the /g/ phoneme. This year, we’re excited to help you start the year strong and build those skills from the beginning with brand-new interactive learning resources.
