Master Place Value with Printable Place Value Cards

Help your students strengthen their understanding of place value with this adaptable set of Printable Place Value Cards! Designed for exploring and expanding 4- and 5-digit numbers, these cards are a must-have math aid for any math lesson or small group intervention activity. This printable resource includes the following printable place value components:

  • 4 and 5-digit number cards (Used as prompt cards for teacher or students to choose from and build using the 10,000, 1,00o, 100, 10, and 1 Cards
  • Place Value Cards – (Ten of each card, designed for use by students when building and expanding 4 and 5-digit numbers.
  • Suggested Activities – A pair of simple, small-group activities to use in intervention groups.

Ways to Use Place Value Cards in the Classroom

These versatile cards can be used in various ways in the classroom. Here are a couple of our favorite place value group activities.

Small Group:

  • Provide each student with a set of place value cards, including the 10,000, 1,000, 100, 10, and 1 cards.
  • Show the group of students a number card.
  • Instruct students to build this number with their place value cards.

Independent Practice:

  • Provide each student with a set of place value cards, including the 10,000, 1,000, 100, 10, and 1 cards.
  • Give students a set of assorted number cards.
  • Instruct student to flip over a number card and use their place value cards to build the number.

We recommend pairing these place-value cards with a printed Place Value Chart.
