More Uses for These Prepositions Pictures
One of the great benefits of this resource is its versatility! You can use both the color preposition scene pictures and the black-and-white preposition scene pictures in various hands-on positional language activities. Here are some creative ways to incorporate them into engaging learning experiences:
- Play Dough Mats – Laminate the color scenes. Have the students use play dough to create objects, then place them in different positions according to positional language prompts, e.g. “Make a ball to put under the tree.”
- Object Placement Game – Provide the students with small toys, counters or figurines. Have them place the objects onto the scenes while explaining aloud their placement choices, e.g. “I am putting the dog next to the house.”
- Barrier Game – Place the students in pairs. Provide each student in the pair with the same scene. One student gives positional instructions while the other arranges small objects or figures on an identical scene behind a barrier. They compare at the end to check accuracy.
- Extra Features – Using the black-and-white scenes, have students draw in additional features based on various positional language clues, e.g. “Draw a sun above the house.”
- Stamp Activity – Provide students with the black-and-white version of one of the scenes and set of stamps. Have students place a stamp onto the scene as you call out positional language clues, e.g. “Put a stamp in the middle of the front door.”
