Looking for Black History Month Ideas? We Can Help!
As teachers, we understand the importance of providing our students with valuable resources that educate them and inspire them. That’s why we are excited to introduce our printable pocket chart cards, perfect for teaching about one of the most iconic figures in black history: Barack Obama.
This set includes various colorful cards that feature facts and information about Barack Obama’s life, from his childhood to his presidency. The cards are designed to be used in a pocket chart, making it easy for students to read and sequence the information in a clear and organized manner.
Black History Month Activities + More!
Use these cards for an interactive read-aloud during Black History Month or leading up to Presidents’ Day.
On Monday, display the cards and pictures in a pocket chart and model read to the students. Throughout the week, continue reading with the students using picture cards for visual reference. At the end of the week, have the students read them independently.
Not only is this a great resource for Black History Month, but these cards can also be used throughout the year as a supplement to your Social Studies curriculum. Use them as part of a class discussion or as a way to introduce a new unit on American history. The possibilities are endless.
We believe that by providing students with resources that highlight the achievements and contributions of black leaders like Barack Obama, we are not only educating them but also giving them role models to look up to.
For durability, print these on cardstock.
Ways to extend this resource:
- Print on cardstock and put into a reading center for students to practice reading and matching images to text.
- Print a copy for each student, glue it into their reading journal, and have them read to an adult at home.
