Roll to Create a Silly Narrative Story

Are you ready to unleash your students’ creative writing potential? As a teacher, you have the power to inspire and guide young minds to become confident and skilled storytellers. By providing easy-to-use resources that make narrative writing a breeze, you can help your students develop their writing skills while having fun and expressing themselves. So, let’s embark on a journey of storytelling together and see the magic of words come alive in your classroom!

Use this teaching resource to create a silly book title that students can use as a story starter to write their own silly narrative stories. With our Roll-to-Create format, students get their writing ideas from a random roll of the die and must incorporate the elements rolled into their writing.

Differentiated Narrative Writing Activities

This resource comes in two levels, early years and upper years. We’ve modified the verbiage and vocabulary for different year levels and line spacing for your students.

How to use this resource:

  1. Roll the dice. Match the number rolled to a row on the chart, and circle the number in the ‘1st Roll’ column.
  2. Roll again. Match the number to a row on the chart, and circle the word in the ‘2nd Roll’ column.
  3. Continue the process until you have something circled in each column.
  4. Write your silly book title at the bottom of the page.
  5. Use the printable mini-book template to take your silly book title and turn it into a silly story.

This resource works great as an independent writing center activity.
