An Exciting Escape Room Rounding Numbers Activity

Take your students on an exciting adventure around the globe with this engaging rounding numbers activity! This escape room has an immersive “Around the World” theme where students will solve four different clues to crack the final code. Along the way, they’ll practice essential rounding skills while collaborating, thinking critically, and having fun. Perfect for reinforcing math concepts, building teamwork, or adding a dash of excitement to your math lessons!

This rounding numbers activity includes:

  • Digital escape room activity
  • Student guidebook
  • Award certificate

This rounding numbers activity can be played as an entire class, in small groups, or even individually. For flexibility and ease of use, PowerPoint and Google Slides versions of the escape room are provided, and the award certificate and student guidebook are available in Google Slides or PDF format.

Playing Our Rounding Whole Numbers Activity

Ready to take your students on an “around the world” adventure with this rounding whole numbers activity? Here’s how!

Preparation:

  1. Display the slides one at a time on an interactive whiteboard or give student groups a link to the slide deck to work at their own pace.
  2. Print a guidebook for each student or group of students.
  3. Print out the “Congratulations!” sign and place it in a manilla envelope.
  4. Print the Escape Code Sheet and glue it to the front of the manilla envelope.

Implementation:

  1. Read the introduction to the class.
  2. Give each student or group their guidebook.
  3. Students work through the clues using the slides and their guidebook to solve the different problems.
  4. Once the students have all four answers for the code, they will bring their guidebook to you to verify their code. If it is correct, hand over the envelope for them to open and receive the “Mission Accomplished!” message.
