Rounding Numbers Worksheet

Are your students in need of some additional practice with rounding? If students understand the concept of rounding with smaller numbers but need to work on rounding with larger numbers, you have come to the right place! Teach Starter has created a rounding worksheet suitable for 4th-grade students to practice this important math skill.

With this worksheet, students must answer 12 questions where they round to a given place. Students will practice rounding to the nearest:

  • tens place
  • hundreds place
  • thousands place
  • ten thousands place
  • hundred thousands place

Additionally, students will answer 2 word problems at the bottom of this worksheet, which they must use their understanding of rounding to complete.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

If students need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to write a different number that rounds to each of their answers.

For students who need a bit of support, consider using the editable version to modify the numbers or the place they are to round to. Additionally, invite students to reference posters or anchor charts to remind them of the rules of rounding.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on cardstock and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
