Count, Tally, and Graph With a Search and Find Thanksgiving Math Activity

Our “Count and Graph – Thanksgiving” worksheet is designed to add a bit of Thanksgiving spirit right into your math lesson while reinforcing essential math skills. This printable activity encourages students to

  1. Count the Pictures: Your students will start by carefully observing the pictures and counting how many of each they see. As they count, they’ll have the opportunity to practice their one-to-one correspondence and number recognition.
  2. Tally Up: Once the counting is complete, it’s time to move to the next step. Our worksheet provides a dedicated space for students to create tally marks corresponding to the number of each item they’ve counted. This not only reinforces counting skills but also introduces them to the concept of tallying as a data representation method.
  3. Create a Graph: When students finish tallying, they are then given an easy-to-use bar graph template to transfer their tally marks and create a visual representation of the Thanksgiving items they counted. This step transforms the worksheet into yet another math exercise, as students get to color in the bars of the graph to match the tally marks, reinforcing their graphing skills.

By the end of this activity, not only will your kindergarteners have sharpened their counting skills, but they’ll also have a fun, Thanksgiving-themed graph to proudly display and discuss with their peers. It’s a fun, hands-on way to introduce young learners to the world of math and data in the spirit of the season.
