Dolch Second Grade Sight Word List

If you’re using Dolch sight words with your second-grade readers, add this activity to your reading center pronto!

Our Grade 2 sight word dominoes challenge students to identify and match 46 words specified for this reading level.

To play, students will take turns connecting the dominoes with their matching sight words as they read each one.

Scaffolding + Extension Tips

Challenge fast finishers who already understand the concept to write the words in alphabetical order on a separate piece of paper.

Support students who need help understanding the concepts by referring to your word wall or an anchor chart as a reminder.

More Ways To Use Our Second Grade Sight Words Dominoes

These dominoes aren’t just for reading centers. They are also great to use in a small group or as a whole class!

Why not try some of these ideas:

🔗 Dolch Sight Word Chain (Scoot Activity)

Provide each student in your class with a domino. Challenge the students to find both of their other halves, creating one long chain of dominoes. Ask the students to complete the task in silence for an extra challenge!

🔔 Bell Ringer Activity

Leave the cards in a pile, and instruct students to grab one as soon as they enter the classroom. On a piece of paper, have students write the word for each side of the domino. They can then draw a picture or use it in a sentence (depending on proficiency).

🃏 Upcycle Into Playing Cards

When students tire of the dominoes element, turn this game into a deck of cards! Break out your scissors and cut the dominoes in half. Students can play games like Match It, Go Fish, or Snap, to name a few.
