This fun card game is perfect for math centers! Students compete to be the first to make three number patterns that follow a specific rule.
This math activity is a “Go Fish” style game with a twist. Students are dealt seven regular number cards as well as one secret number pattern card. To score a point, they must create a pattern with four numbers that follow the rule on the secret number pattern card.
This game promotes:
- problem-solving
- algebraic reasoning
- higher-order thinking skills
Through this activity, students will show that they can continue and create number patterns resulting from addition and subtraction.

🆘 Support Struggling Students
Start students who need help understanding the concepts of the game with pattern cards 3 or 4. These cards have a missing number covered up by a black square. The pattern is a recognizable pattern, as it is only counting by 1.
➕ Challenge Fast Finishers
For a challenge, once students have finished playing the game, task them with creating a number pattern for every secret number pattern card using the number cards and the wild cards. Can it be done?

Print on cardstock for added durability and longevity. Place all pieces in a folder or large envelope for easy access.
