Building a Classroom Sound Wall? Add a Beautiful Board of Blends!

Sound walls support students with learning those tricky high-frequency words. They also support students in retaining and learning to read unfamiliar words on their own. A sound wall does the work of matching speech sounds/phonemes to the letters that represent those sounds. We’ve created the sound wall for you, and now we’re adding to the collection with anchor charts and other resources to use once those sounds are taught.

Here at Teach Starter, we understand that teaching phonics isn’t always easy.  That’s why we have created these consonant blend classroom posters. Students need to practice recognizing and producing the consonant blends in words, and these posters do just that! The set includes twenty phonics anchor charts highlighting each of the two-letter consonant blends. Each poster shows the blend and a variety of words and images containing that blend.

Blend Posters included are: st, sw, bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl, sp, sn, sm, sc, sk, tr, dr, fr, gr, pr, br,  and cr

Displaying these posters in your classroom will increase awareness of common spelling patterns and provide a great visual for your RTI group instruction.

How to Make the Most of Your Ultimate Blends Poster Pack

  1. Print the posters, slip them into a clear sleeve, and use them in your guided groups as a reminder.
  2. Print the posters half-sized or quarter-size and have students paste them into their reading or writing notebooks as reference materials.
  3. Print the posters, slide them into a clear sleeve, and hang them on a ring as a reference tool for a learning center.
