Seymour Smoke Alarm = Fire Prevention Week Made Fun!

Meet Seymour Smoke Alarm, the friendliest fire safety guide you could ever wish for! With his cheerful red fireman’s helmet and blinking red nose, Seymour is not your average smoke alarm. Seymour is the dude you reach for when teaching students the ins and outs of fire safety. By sharing fire safety tips through stories and activities, Seymour makes learning about fire safety essential and entertaining. Whether explaining why we test our alarms regularly or teaching the stop, drop, and roll technique, Seymour is the perfect guy to help you ensure that your students know how to stay safe in case of a fire.

Promote Reading and Fire Safety With Printable Bookmarks!

This printable resource is perfect for providing your students with simple fire safety tips and promoting self-selected reading. On one side, they are reminded of the importance of fire alarms; on the other, they are provided with simple fire safety tips in an emergency. This printable template, featuring Seymour Smoke Alarm of course, is designed for students to color, fold, and create their own fire safety bookmark.

To create the bookmark, students will

  1. Color and cut out the template around the perimeter of the rectangle. Remind students NOT to cut the template in half.
  2. Fold the template in half down the center line.
  3. Use a glue stick to glue the two halves together.
  4. Add their name and laminate if desired.
