Teach your students appropriate cafeteria rules and procedures with a printable Time to Eat Social Stories booklet.
Teach Lunchtime Procedures with Social Stories!
Many young children may find it challenging to make the right choice in locations outside the classroom. Factors such as peer pressure, noise sensitivity, and poor impulse control may lead students to make poor decisions in large group areas such as the lunchroom. Children must be guided along the path of correct cafeteria behavior before being expected to function correctly in this location.
Teach Starter has created a printable mini-book to help your students learn about making good choices and following the rules when it is time to eat. Each page is designed in a simple manner with real-life photographs to help students make connections and understand the examples.
The last page of the mini-book also poses a question with three picture choices for students to choose from as their answer.
Teach Students Appropriate Cafeteria Behavior
This social story about using the correct procedures in the lunchroom can be used in many different ways with your students. It could be used as a:
- Whole-class lesson
- Small group activity
- Take-home resource
If you’re a kindergarten teacher, this is the perfect book to bring out during those first few days of school. Many of those little guys and girls have never seen a cafeteria before and will be completely overwhelmed. This booklet is the perfect before-lunch read-aloud!
