What’s Included in This Virtual Escape Room for Kids?

In this exciting, game-based escape room, students will solve puzzles and answer questions related to the states of matter and the changes matter undergoes (such as melting, freezing, and condensation). The story unfolds as Dr. Nova races against the clock to escape Dr. Element’s laboratory, and your students are her only hope!

This Digital Breakout Matter Game has two components: one printable and one digital. Each is described below:

• States of Matter Escape Room Digital Slides – The digital portion of this States of Matter virtual escape room for kids consists of an interactive slide deck in which students solve problems and are only allowed to access the next clue once they’ve answered a content-related question. This component is designed to run in presentation mode in Google Slides or PowerPoint and is to be used by the student in tandem with the printed workbook.
• States of Matter Escape Room Workbook – This component of the resource is designed for student use and is necessary for giving students access to all of the clues and puzzles needed to progress through the digital component. This workbook features a variety of activities, puzzles, and games for students to solve in order to find the access codes to escape from Dr. Element’s lab. As students solve each puzzle, they will locate the access code, which will then be applied to the digital breakout slide in order to advance.

• Solids, Liquids, and Gases: Identifying the characteristics and behaviors of different states of matter.
• Changes in Matter: Understanding phase changes like melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation.
