Subordinating Conjunctions Interactive Activity

Teaching subordinating conjunctions in your grammar lessons? Subordinating conjunctions serve several important functions in a sentence, one of which is to show conditions.

Subordinating conjunctions for conditions are words that introduce adverbial clauses expressing the circumstances under which the action in the main clause takes place. These conjunctions help establish conditional relationships between different parts of a sentence. 

The subordinating conjunctions of condition  focused on in this resource are:

  • Unless, 
  • Whenever, 
  • Once, 
  • Provided, 
  • If, 
  • So long as.

These subordinating conjunctions help convey various conditions and contingencies, allowing for varied expression of possibilities in a sentence.

In this read-and-type-style digital activity, students are required to read a question, and use the given subordinating conjunction to form and type a complete sentence to answer the question using that conditional conjunction.
