Make Writing Dialogue Easy With Picture Prompts!

Are you stuck on finding a way to make teaching dialogue and quotation marks more fun? No worries, because we’ve got some ideas for you! You can include role-playing activities, drawing and writing opportunities, and interactive games to help your students master this writing skill. This year, we are eager to help you create engaging quotation mark lessons and dialogue writing experiences for your students with brand-new Teach Starter Resources!

Tell Me a Story…Dialogue Picture Prompts

This engaging resource is the perfect way to get your students engaged in writing and using quotation marks to signify dialogue in a text. In this handy instructional slide deck, students are presented with images to inspire their writing.

On each of the 24 slides, students are provided an image to analyze. They will look at the photo and imagine a conversation that might occur between the people shown in the picture. From there, they are encouraged to write the conversation using dialogue punctuation rules. To help get them started, we have also included a short word bank of related words to help students generate conversation ideas.
