Addressing the Struggle: Helping Students Master Clock Reading
Knowing how to tell time is an essential skill that helps us plan our day and understand how long things take. It also teaches us basic concepts like order and scheduling. But telling time can be tricky, especially when using analog clocks. This is especially true for kids just starting to learn the concept.
Printable Task Cards: Practice Telling Time to the 5-Minute Mark
This set of 24 printable task cards is perfect for students needing extra practice telling time on an analog clock. The cards feature various clock faces with different times and other telling time questions that help students practice and reinforce their understanding of the concept.
Whether students are beginners or advanced learners, these task cards will make it easy for them to build skills with reading the time up to the 5-minute mark.
Classroom Activities Using Telling Time Practice Cards
- Time Telling Relay: Divide students into teams and set up a relay race where each team member takes turns drawing a task card, reading the time aloud or answering the question, and then writing it on the board. From there, students will pass play to the next student in line, and so on.
- Time SCOOT! Game: Place cards around the room and have one student stand in front of each card. Set a timer and have students solve the card in front of them. Once time is up, say the word SCOOT! , and have students rotate to the next card. Continue in this manner until students have solved all cards.
