“Arrrr” You Looking for Activities for the First Day of School?

Open up a new school year with an exciting and creative first day of school treasure hunt! Those first days of school can be scary, especially when your learners are unfamiliar with their school building. This resource is designed to put your tiny pirates at ease while they follow a trail of pirate clues to tour the school building.

Tips for Pulling off the Perfect Treasure Hunt

  1. Set up your treasure trail before the first day of school. Place each clue in its designated location around the building.
  2. On the first day of school, introduce your students to the task by reading them the first two cards while still in the classroom.
  3. Once those clues are read, each successive clue leads them to a different location in the building.
  4. At the end of the hunt, the last clue is hidden in your classroom “treasure chest,” making for a perfect lead-in to your classroom management system.
