Grab Your Veterans Day Activities
The school year is underway, so let’s get you prepped for all those upcoming holidays in your Social Studies curriculum! We have created a fun and engaging Veterans Day interactive activity for first-grade and kindergarten students. Use this Google Slides presentation in edit mode for independent or whole-group activity in the weeks surrounding this fall holiday.
Students will identify different images and words related to the different branches of the U.S. military. They will learn what each military branch does for the United States and discover how important our veterans are!
Pair this activity with our Veterans Day Mini Book to boost reading skills!
Scaffolding for Interactive Veterans Day Lessons
We created this resource for circle time and reading lessons. In addition, we suggest these alternative uses to reinforce reading skills and new vocabulary words with your small group and full-class lessons:
- Complete the activity as a whole group, discussing military branches, looking at pictures beforehand, etc.
- Complete the activity AFTER reading our Veterans Day Mini book and allow students to use it as a reference.
