A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your science lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this set of vocabulary cards to enhance learning through guided science groups, whole class lessons, or remote learning assignments.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

If there are students who need additional support, limit the number of vocabulary cards to use with a student at one time. Additionally, these words can be categorized into weather-related terms and weather tools. Consider having these students focus on one area first.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

If there are students who need an additional challenge, encourage them to use the vocabulary cards to write a story or develop an infographic.

🗣️ Turn & Talk

Invite students to pair up with someone in the seat nearest to them for a 5-minute Turn & Talk. Keep students engaged and on task by directing them to focus on a specific topic, or let them freely discuss the content. Use this Turn & Talk session to encourage students to make space for each other by actively listening, asking questions, and practicing empathy.

✋ Show Me!

Give each student a mini dry-erase board and a dry-erase marker. Project the definition while covering up the picture and vocabulary term.  Give students time to write down the correct weather term. When everyone has written down their answer, say, “Show Me.” Students will flip their boards, allowing you to see who needs extra support.
