Teach students what needs soil to grow with this coloring worksheet for early years students.
What Needs Soil to Grow?
Plants are essential to life on Earth. Without them, many animals (including humans) would not be able to access the necessary food required for their survival.
This simple coloring worksheet has been designed by our experienced team of teachers to help students learn about the types of organisms that are dependent on soil for their survival. Students must color the images that need soil to grow and cross out the things that do not.
This soil worksheet downloads as a black-and-white PDF or an editable Google Slides file. An answer sheet is also provided.
This resource would make a great addition to any lesson focused on the importance of soil to the survival and health of plants.
Further Uses for This Soil Worksheet
This coloring worksheet may look deceptively simple at first, but it provides a great springboard for further exploration into the dependence of living things on soil.
To liven up your lesson, or to challenge your more-capable students, why not have your students sort the images on the coloring sheet into categories? Some categories you could use include:
- Living and non-living things
- Plants, animals and neither
- Natural things and human-made things
