Use this calming, square-breathing exercise video to introduce your students to mindfulness in the classroom.
What Is Mindful Breathing?
Mindful breathing is a calming mindfulness technique that can be used anywhere, anytime, by anyone!
The beauty of this technique is in its simplicity. The simple action of taking a minute or two to focus solely on the natural rhythm of breathing can do wonders for calming our emotions, reducing stress and evoking a sense of general wellbeing. Breathing is a great anchor when it comes to calming our minds and bodies as it is something we can draw our attention to wherever we are and whatever we are doing.
Teach Your Students to Destress with Breathing Exercises
The positive benefits of teaching mindfulness to children have been proven across many studies, and incorporating mindfulness into everyday classroom activity is becoming more common. A five- or ten-minute daily mindfulness activity like this one can:
- Release stress and anxiety
- Increase concentration and engagement
- Improve sleep
- Assist with problem-solving and decision-making skills
They’re also great for calming excitable little ones down after recess and lunchtime, too!
