First Nations Peoples Histories and Cultures Teaching Resources
Ensure your students understand the diversity of Australia's First Nations peoples, their histories, cultures and connections to the land with activities, worksheets and more teacher resources that will help you build respect and understanding in the classroom.
This collection of cross-curricular resources was created specifically for Australian teachers and covers an array of themes and important events in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, creating a framework for culturally appropriate lessons not just about the past but about the lives of contemporary First Nations people.
Through unit and lesson plans and related activities, students will be encouraged to look at pivotal periods in Australian history through a critical lens, examining myths about European colonisation and its impact on Aboriginal communities.
Students will learn about the Stolen Generations and the lasting consequences of these forcible removals of First Nations children from their homes and families. They'll also have a chance to become familiar with important members of the First Nations communities and learn about their unique languages and cultural traditions.
Promote reconciliation as you help your students build respect and appreciation for First Nations people, their cultures and their resilience.
