A “Stellar” Cartesian Plane Game

If you are searching the galaxy for a Cartesian plane game that your students will love, stop that spaceship! This space-themed escape room will engage your students while allowing them to practise multiple Cartesian plane-related skills, such as:

  • Plotting coordinate pairs
  • Drawing polygons given the coordinates
  • Naming the coordinate pair of a given point
  • Measuring distance on the Cartesian plane

Students can complete this Cartesian plane game independently, in pairs, or in small groups. This resource contains all the necessary components to play, including:

  • Game slideshow
  • Student workbook
  • Student workbook answer key
  • Congratulatory certificate

Interactive Cartesian Plane Games for Engagement

Our Cartesian plane game isn’t the only way to get your students excited about plotting points! Many interactive Cartesian plane games can enhance your maths unit. Gamifying your maths lessons aids student retention and engagement, so break out the fun whenever possible! Here are some other game ideas you can try:

  • Battleship: An obvious choice and a fan favourite. We have linked our version below!
  • Cartesian Plane Treasure Hunt: Create a treasure map on a Cartesian plane. Students follow coordinates to find hidden treasures around the room or the school.
  • Cartesian Plane Relay Race: Set up a large Cartesian plane with chalk on the playground. Divide students into teams. One student from each team runs to a given coordinate, touches it, and returns to tag the next teammate—the first team to finish wins!
