Hang this input and output poster in your classroom to serve as a quick reference during a unit on number patterns.
An Essential Input and Output Poster
Make maths relevant with this cycling-themed input and output poster designed for upper years students. Using the example of a cyclist travelling at 8 kilometres per hour, this resource helps students learn how input/output tables work.
This poster includes both vertical and horizontal configurations, showing the cyclist’s distance over 5 hours. Available in full-colour and low-colour versions, this input and output poster is a great reference for students during a unit about number patterns.
Using This Input Output Poster
The obvious use of this input output poster is to hang it in your classroom for all to see, but the Google Slides version can be edited to create some other options as well! Here is a list of other ways to use this resource:
- Input/Output Worksheet – Delete the numbers from the function tables on this poster and ask students to fill them in based on the cycling scenario presented.
- Spark Discussion – Present the cycling scenario from the poster and use it as an example to brainstorm as a class other situations where the data may be organised in an input/output table.
- ‘Create-Your-Own’ Poster – Give students access to a digital copy of the Google Slides version and ask them to edit it to create their own input and output poster with graphics and a scenario of their choice!
