Add Guided Meditation Scripts to Your Teacher Toolbox

Did you know that mindfulness has been proven to reduce stress, and that practising mindfulness can significantly improve both mental and physical health? This handy printable guided meditation script can do just that for your students!

In an age where childhood anxiety is the highest it has ever been, it is vital that we teach our students how to achieve a state of mental calm. One strategy that can be used to achieve this outcome is guided meditation.

Guided meditation is an activity that involves a leader (in this case, the teacher) talking a group of participants (the students) through a mindfulness activity, such as mindful breathing. The leader provides guidance on how to complete the medication and helps the students notice physical and mental reactions as the activity unfolds.

  • Try to make mindfulness mini-lessons a special time of day. Schedule five minutes each day at a time that suits you and your class.
  • A small change in the environment can help students focus on mindfulness practice. You may like to dim or turn off the lights or close classroom curtains or blinds.
  • Students can stand, sit or lie down for this mindful breathing activity.
  • Guided meditations are highly effective when practised in a quiet and distraction-free space.
