Granny Needs a New Quilt! Synonyms and Antonyms Worksheet

This printable synonyms and antonyms worksheet is perfect for helping your students build their vocabulary skills with synonyms and antonyms.

This worksheet requires students to look at a pair of words inside each of the quilt squares on granny’s quilt and determine if those words are synonyms or antonyms. Then, students will colour the quilt squares pink or blue based on their answer.

Tips for Scaffolding and Extension

This synonyms and antonyms activity has been designed to support your students in developing a deeper understanding of related vocabulary. Should you need to support or extend students in your class, you may wish to try the following ideas:

  • For students who require support, provide them with a visual reminder of what synonyms and antonyms are. Our Synonyms and Antonyms Posters would be perfect for this purpose!
  • For students who require extension, challenge them to create a quilt of their own to swap with a partner.
