A poster with information about the plant life, climate and annual rainfall that characterise a desert environment.
What is a desert?
Plant life: little vegetation can grow in the desert. Cactus, succulents and other tough plants with small leaves can survive.
Climate: dry, hot and sunny all year round. 40ºC common during the day, can get to 0ºC or colder during the night. Not all deserts are hot. Antarctica and the Arctic can be called ‘cold deserts’.
Annual rainfall: less than 250 mm.
