What Are Input-Output Tables?
Is this your first year teaching this concept? Let our teacher team help you make the best use of each item in the collection!
Input-output tables represent the relationship between two variables, providing pairs of numbers follow a certain pattern or rule. The inputs are listed in the left column, and the outputs are listed in the right column.
How to Use Input-Output Tables
Whether students are learning coordinate graphing standards, creating ordered pairs, or determining missing values, input-output tables can help students organize and show relationships between different data points.
As an example, if a student is analyzing an input-output table with a missing value, they must determine the relationship between the numbers in the left-hand column and the right-hand column. It may be that each number is being multiplied by 5, divided by 3, etc. Once the rule has been established, students can then use this to calculate the missing value.
