Create a Map with a Printable School Map-Making Project

Resources for teaching map skills are abundant, but teachers often find it difficult to find engaging and exciting materials for primary grades. Many of the fun projects and map games are reserved for the upper grade levels, but we’ve put together a resource to change that!

This project-based activity will surely engage your young cartographers while building their knowledge of map skills and map keys. With this resource, students will cut out and use templates to build a birds-eye view map of their school building.

This resource download includes

  • School Location cut-and-paste labels
  • Map key cutout.

Through this activity, students will show the ability to make and use a map key.
