Use a printable behavior frequency chart to track student progress toward behavior goals.
What is a Behavior Frequency Chart?
A behavior frequency chart is a tool for recording and analyzing how often specific behaviors occur over a certain period. It is commonly used in various fields, such as psychology, education, and behavior analysis, to track and modify behavior patterns.
Key Components of a Behavior Frequency Chart
What are the components of a behavior frequency chart? Here’s a quick look at what they include:
- Target Behavior(s): Clearly defined behaviors that the teacher observes and tracks. These can be positive behaviors (e.g., raising a hand to speak in class) or negative behaviors (e.g., instances of aggression).
- Time Period: The period of time over which the behavior is observed and recorded. This could be in terms of days, weeks, or months. It can also include individual blocks of time during the school day.
- Frequency Recording: A method for recording each instance of the target behavior. This can be done using tally marks, checkboxes, or other entries.
- Date and Time: Specific dates and times when the behavior occurs, providing more detailed records for analysis.
This printable behavior frequency chart is the perfect tool to help you observe, note, and analyze student behaviors throughout the school day and over the course of a full week of school. It makes the perfect template for collecting data for IEP meetings, parent conferences, and more!
