Build a City and Practice Counting to Ten!

This interactive game has been created by an experienced early years teacher to engage young learners in hands-on, educational fun! In this game, students will use colorful manipulatives to construct their own miniature cities on a board.

The download includes three different boards: one uses dice images, another uses the numeral and another uses tally marks. Allowing students a variety of different ways to show their understanding of counting to 10.

Hands-On Learning: The Power of Manipulatives

Manipulatives are essential tools in early childhood education. These tangible objects help children understand abstract mathematical concepts through physical interaction. By stacking blocks and other objects in Stack Your City, students:

  • Develop Fine Motor Skills: Manipulating small objects enhances hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
  • Visualize Math Concepts: Concepts like addition, subtraction, and geometry become more concrete when students can see and touch the objects they are working with.
  • Foster Problem-Solving Abilities: Building a city requires planning and critical thinking, encouraging students to solve problems and think creatively.
