It’s a Ball of Fun! Gumball Counting Clip Cards

This collection of gumball counting clip cards has been created by an experienced teacher as an engaging  activity to help students practice their counting skills to 20. Each card features a group of gumballs in a gumball machine, students are tasked with counting the gumballs and matching the correct numeral with what they’ve counted. This counting activity is perfect for young learners as they provide a hands-on learning experience that reinforces foundational math skills.

Counting to 20 is a critical milestone in early childhood education. It lays the groundwork for more advanced mathematical concepts and helps build a strong foundation for future learning.

Ways to Use Gumball Counting Clip Cards in the Classroom

These clip cards are versatile and can be used in various ways to enhance learning in the classroom. Here are a few ideas:

  1. Independent Work Stations: Set up a counting station where students can work independently or in pairs to count the gumballs and clip the correct number. This fosters autonomy and allows for self-paced learning.
  2. Small Group Activities: Use the clip cards during small group sessions to provide targeted instruction. Teachers can observe and assist students as they count and clip, offering guidance and support as needed.
  3. Homework or Take-Home Activities: Send the clip cards home with students for extra practice. Parents can get involved in their child’s learning, reinforcing counting skills outside of the classroom environment.
  4. Assessment Tools: Use the cards as a quick and informal assessment to gauge students’ understanding of counting and number recognition. This can help identify students who may need additional support or practice.
