😎 Self-Esteem Activity – Somebody Pass the Sunglasses – It’s Bright in Here!

Use this fun craft template during Social Emotional Learning around self-esteem and identifying strengths. This template aims to empower your students to recognize and celebrate their unique strengths, promoting self-esteem and positive self-awareness.

Before starting this craft template, ensure you’ve created a supportive environment and explain that this activity is about discovering inner strengths and superpowers. It’s important that your students know that everyone is unique in their strengths, which makes every one of them unique and valuable.

You may like to brainstorm various strengths and write them on the board to provide those students who may struggle with this a bit of an idea. Encourage students to think beyond academic abilities and consider personal qualities like kindness, empathy, creativity, leadership, problem-solving, resilience etc.

Recognize Strengths + Boost Self-Esteem

Teaching kids to recognize their strengths can have a positive impact on their self-esteem for several reasons:

  • Builds a positive self-image – when children are aware of their strengths gives children a sense of competence and self-worth.
  • Encourages self-awareness – when students identify their strengths, it requires self-reflection and self-awareness.
  • Encourages growth mindset – when students understand that their strengths can be nurtured and improved, they become more willing to take on challenges and persist in the face of setbacks.
  • Builds confidence – recognizing strengths provides a sense of accomplishment and boosts confidence.
