Parts of Speech Game Board – Gamify Grammar Practice
Whether you’re introducing parts of speech for the first time or reinforcing prior learning, playing games helps students build confidence in their speaking and writing skills.
In this interactive grammar activity, students roll the included parts of speech die and match their roll to a noun, verb, or adjective on the game board. Players move along the board as they correctly identify words, with the first student to reach the end declared the winner.
Designed for 2–4 players, the Parts of Speech Game Board is available in two formats, one with images and one without, making it easy to differentiate for students with varying reading abilities.
More Ways to Use the Parts of Speech Game Board
This resource was created by a team of experienced educators and works perfectly as part of your English small-group rotations. It can also be easily adapted for whole-class instruction or independent practice.
- Group Lesson – Display the game board on your smartboard or projector. Students take turns rolling a die, moving to a word on the board, and identifying its part of speech for the class.
- Sentence Writing – Have students roll the die twice to select two words, then write a sentence using both. Repeat several times, then pair students to share their sentences and combine them into a collaborative story.
- Charades – Divide the class into two teams. One student rolls the die and acts out the word they land on. If their team correctly guesses both the word and its part of speech, they earn a point.
