A Pizza-Themed Counting Game

Are you looking for a counting game with a delicious twist? Designed to help students practice matching numbers with corresponding collections of objects, this engaging resource brings a playful, pizza-themed element to number recognition and counting skills. With colorful templates featuring pepperoni, mushrooms and shrimp, students will love assembling their pizzas while mastering essential math concepts.

Inside the resource download, you will find:

  • 3 x pizza base templates, with slices labeled with the numerals 1-10
  • 3 x pizza topping templates featuring slices with different amounts of toppings

Using this resource, students will practice their counting skills and number recognition skills. They will also develop an understanding of quantities and how these relate to the visual representation of numbers.

How to Play This Pizza-Themed Counting Game

Here’s a breakdown of how to play this pizza-themed counting game:

  1. Print out the resource. Cut out the pizza pieces with toppings on them. Do not cut out the pizzas with numerals on them.
  2. Separate the pizza pieces with pepperoni, mushrooms and prawns into piles. Add a pizza base template (the pizzas with the numerals on the slices) to each pile.
  3. Students choose a slice of pizza and count the number of topping pieces on the slice. They then place this slice on top of the corresponding numeral on the pizza base.
  4. Play continues until all three pizzas have been created.
