Use the Unit Fractions to Crack the Code!

Teachers love a good worksheet/activity that students are fully engaged with, feels like they’re just having fun, but really, they are showing off the new skills. This set of two worksheets features a colour by unit fraction code for students to crack. A great activity to do with your students to check their knowledge of identifying different unit fractions. The following unit fractions are included in these worksheets:

  • ½ (halves)
  • ⅓ (thirds)
  • ¼ (quarters)
  • ⅕ (fifths)
  • ⅙ (sixths)
  • 1/7 (sevenths)
  • ⅛ (eighths)

Are there some above that your students won’t know just yet? That’s ok.. do that one together as a class and then let them do the ones they know!

How to Use Color by Code Worksheets

These types of worksheets are the perfect way to reinforce certain concepts in the classroom. They’re also a great way to encourage collaboration and small group work, students can work together to colour in different sections of these worksheets – it is suggested that you print these on slightly larger paper if you are going to create a collaborative activity during small maths group work. Then, students can display and show off their unit fraction knowledge!
